Rihanna Makes History as First Woman to Surpass 200 Million RIAA Singles Certifications

New york: Rihanna has made history as the first woman to exceed 200 million RIAA singles certifications, achieving this milestone despite not having released an album in a decade.

According to Ghana Web, the 38-year-old 'Diamond' singer has reached third place on the all-time list, with her total certifications amounting to 200.5 million units. Leading the ranks is Drake, with 277.5 million, followed by Morgan Wallen, who has earned 215 million certifications.

Rihanna's most recent album, ANTI, was released in 2016. Since then, her musical output has included 'Lift Me Up,' recorded for the 2022 movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and 'Friends of Mine,' featured in 2025's Smurfs. Despite years of discussing her next studio album, Rihanna shared with Harper's Bazaar in 2025 that she felt positive about its progress.

She expressed that she waited for the right moment to create music that matched her growth and evolution. Rihanna emphasized the importance of making the time away from music count and delivering something significant.

As a mother of three, Rihanna also hinted that her new music would defy expectations, stating it wouldn't be 'commercial or radio digestible.' Besides her music career, Rihanna is thriving as an entrepreneur.

In 2025, she became the first Black woman to found two billion-dollar companies, with her brands Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty surpassing a $1 billion valuation each, according to Parade. Together, these businesses achieved a valuation exceeding $3 billion.

Fenty Beauty, launched in 2017, received acclaim for its inclusive foundation line accommodating a wide range of skin tones. The successful introduction of deeper foundation shades at Sephora led competitors like Make Up For Ever and L'Or©al to focus on women of color. Fenty Beauty's recent expansion into Guyana was facilitated by Glamour Beauty, Guyana's leading retail chain, founded by Varsha Sharma.
