Richie Mensah’s Mother Shares Insights on Parenting Without Corporal Punishment

Accra: Principal and Director of Creative Minds Academy, Alberta Mensah, recently shared her parenting approach at the second edition of Convergence of Mothers, an event organized by media personality MzGee. Alberta Mensah, the mother of music executive Richie Mensah and his brother Albert Mensah, emphasized the importance of raising children without resorting to corporal punishment, instead fostering an environment of love, trust, and open communication.

According to Ghana Web, Mensah highlighted the positive impact of her parenting style, noting that children tend to respond better when they feel loved and understood rather than intimidated. She expressed her belief that effective parenting involves managing and understanding each child's unique personality, which in her case involved raising four different personalities. Mensah's approach allowed her children to feel comfortable discussing sensitive issues, such as their decision to lose their virginity.

Mensah further explained that the trust and openness she cultivated with her children influenced their decision-making processes. She shared that her son Richie Mensah would often consider whether his actions would make her happy before proceeding. Mensah stressed that successful parenting is not about instilling fear but rather building a connection that makes children feel secure and loved, thereby encouraging them to seek guidance from their parents.
