Accra: Reverend Vincent Dagadu, Senior Clergyman of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, has called on Christians, particularly those in leadership, to uphold moral values, integrity, and servant leadership as they celebrate Easter. In an Easter goodwill message, he emphasized the significance of the season as a pivotal celebration in the Christian calendar, marking God's gift of salvation to humanity through Jesus Christ.
According to Ghana News Agency, Rev. Dagadu highlighted that through the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God reconciled humanity to Himself, offering believers hope for eternal life and a new beginning. He described Easter as the foundation of the Christian faith and a reminder of God's ultimate love and sacrifice for mankind.
Rev. Dagadu, the Parish Pastor of E.P Church, Trinity Parish, Madina, noted that while Easter initially was a purely religious observance, it has evolved over time to influence various societal aspects, including cultural and community development activities. He pointed out that communities often use the period to organize gatherings involving chiefs and elders to discuss development projects, while families reunite, settle differences, and strengthen bonds.
The clergyman urged Christians in leadership positions to reflect Christ's humility and integrity, ensuring their conduct positively impacts those they lead. He expressed concern about the rising levels of immorality, particularly among the youth, and called on leaders in religious, political, and civil society spaces to set high moral standards for the younger generation to emulate.
Rev. Dagadu emphasized the need to promote strong moral values and responsible living as part of the Christian witness. As the commemoration of Good Friday and Easter celebrations approach, he urged reflection on the true meaning of this sacred occasion. He explained that Easter symbolizes hope, renewal, and salvation, encouraging Christians to emulate Jesus Christ by showing love, compassion, and forgiveness.
He concluded by expressing his wish for all Christians to have a peaceful and blessed Easter, urging them to allow the message of the season to rekindle hope, forgiveness, sacrifice, and the love of God in their lives.
