Accra: Ghanaian hiplife legend Reggie Rockstone has expressed concern over the ongoing public feud between Sarkodie and Stonebwoy, saying he fears the two music heavyweights could permanently damage their relationship if the exchanges continue. Speaking in a video shared on social media, Reggie urged both artistes to keep their differences off social media, stressing that fans often escalate such conflicts without caring about the long-term consequences for the musicians involved.
According to Ghana Web, Reggie Rockstone drew from his experience during the past feud between Samini and Shatta Wale, revealing that he was involved behind the scenes in efforts to manage the situation rather than fuel it publicly. He pointed out that fans treat celebrity feuds like football rivalries, leaving the artistes to deal with the lasting damage to their relationships. He emphasized that the fan bases are like football fans, who insult and then forget, while the relationship between the musicians continues to deteriorate.
Reggie mentioned that although lyrical battles are part of hip-hop and dancehall culture, the current disagreement appears to go beyond music. He expressed his concern that the feud could lead to a situation where Sarkodie and Stonebwoy might not speak to each other in the future. He also warned about the potential for genuine hatred among some fans, which could lead to unnecessary confrontations.
The hiplife pioneer advised both artistes to move on if reconciliation proves impossible, insisting that they do not have to be friends to continue making music. He dismissed suggestions that the situation could become physically violent between the two musicians and defended Sarkodie's recent comments, stating that the music's purpose is to bring people together, not incite violence.
