Accra: Hiplife pioneer Reggie Rockstone has expressed his support for Wendy Shay ahead of the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, indicating that her victory in the Artiste of the Year category would be one of the evening’s most compelling narratives.
According to Ghana Web, Rockstone made these remarks during an appearance on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z on May 2, 2026. He acknowledged the competitiveness of the nominees but emphasized that Wendy Shay’s win would be particularly meaningful to him.
Rockstone stated, “It will be a beautiful story if Wendy picks it up. I am just saying even from the outlook. Of course, I would love for Medikal too because he has put in a lot of work. But it will be beautiful. It will make me smile really big.”
Wendy Shay is set to compete at the May 9 ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre against Medikal, Black Sherif, Diana Hamilton, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie.
The stakes are high for Wendy Shay and Medikal, for whom a win would be unprecedented. Black Sherif and Diana Hamilton have previously won the top prize once, while Stonebwoy and Sarkodie have multiple victories to their names.
The event will take place on May 9 at the Palms Convention Centre.
