Accra: Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings led the Agyeman-Rawlings family on Friday to visit former PNDC member Joseph Nunoo-Mensah and his family to commiserate with them over the loss of his wife, Margaret Nunoo-Mensah, who passed away in February.
According to Ghana Web, the delegation, which included Yaa Asantewaa Agyeman-Rawlings and Amina Agyeman-Rawlings, said the visit was to honour the long-standing relationship between the two families. Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized the importance of friendship and expressed sincere condolences to the Nunoo-Mensah family.
General Nunoo-Mensah, a former Chief of Defence Staff during the PNDC era and later National Security Advisor under President John Evans Atta Mills, expressed comfort in the visit, especially during a time when the Agyeman-Rawlings family was also mourning a loss. He reminisced about his close relationship with former President Jerry John Rawlings, highlighting their shared experiences.
During the meeting, General Nunoo-Mensah was accompanied by his children, Ben, Joseph, Fred, and Amanda Nunoo-Mensah. His notable career includes being appointed Chief of Defence Staff by the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council in 1979 and later becoming a member of the PNDC, which assumed power in 1981. In 2009, he served as National Security Advisor under President Atta Mills.
General Nunoo-Mensah and his late wife, Margaret, were married on August 10, 1968.
