SUNYANI: Ransford Antwi, an independent parliamentary candidate for the Sunyani East constituency in the upcoming 2024 elections, has announced plans to establish a 'tools bank' to support artisanal workers if elected. The initiative aims to provide essential start-up tools and equipment to artisans and apprentices, fostering self-employment and skill development within the community. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Antwi detailed his plan during interactions with constituents in Kyeremekrom, Atronie, Yawhima, and Abesim. He emphasized the importance of the informal sector in strengthening the local economy and proposed a 40-foot container stocked with various learning tools. This resource would be available to deserving artisans and apprentices, aiding them in gaining employable skills and establishing their workshops. Mr. Antwi highlighted the need for a robust policy strategy to support informal sector workers, aiming to alleviate their challenges and promote business growth. He believes that making skills training more attractive could draw unemployed youth into trades and crafts, thereby reducing crime rates by providing worthwhile employment opportunities. He urged voters to consider alternatives to the major political parties, the NDC and NPP, encouraging them to make informed choices based on the policies and programs outlined in the parties' manifestos for the upcoming election. Mr. Antwi expressed his hope that voters will support candidates with beneficial policies for the constituency and the nation.
