Prospectus Ghana and GES Launch EduPack Programme to Simplify SHS Boarding Admissions

Accra: Prospectus Ghana, with support from the Ghana Education Service (GES), has launched the EduPack programme to simplify the supply of approved boarding essentials for Senior High School students. The programme aims to standardise and deliver four GES-approved boarding items to schools ahead of reopening, thereby easing stress on parents and students. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Jude Fosy Gyamfi, Chief Executive Officer of Prospectus Ghana Limited, addressed a press briefing in Accra, stating that the initiative seeks to address persistent challenges, including bedbug infestations in boarding schools. The EduPack package comprises a trunk or suitcase in accordance with school policy, a plastic chop box, a mattress with a Mackintosh cover, and a pillow with a Mackintosh cover. Under the initiative, Mr. Gyamfi explained that the approved items would be delivered directly to schools before reopening. This will allow students to report with only a travel bag containing personal effects. The deliver y will be supported by a logistics partnership with Ghana Post and FedEx, focusing on standardization, safety, hygiene, and direct school delivery of approved boarding items. Mr. Gyamfi stated that parents interested in the programme are required to register their wards by making payments at any Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) branch nationwide and presenting the receipt during enrolment to collect the items. He cautioned parents against making payments to school authorities, emphasizing that the EduPack programme ensures students report to school prepared and protected. Mr. Gyamfi highlighted the significant stress parents often experience in procuring boarding essentials, typically marked by traffic congestion at central markets and the physical strain of transporting bulky items. The programme offers financial relief through free padlocks for provision boxes, free labelling of all four approved items, free delivery to schools, and discounts of between 15 and 20 percent below prevailing market prices. To sustain the initiative, Prospectus Ghana and GES plan to continuously support the construction of warehouses and dry food storage facilities for all public boarding SHSs. Mr. Gyamfi noted that the warehousing project would be piloted in 100 schools before being expanded nationwide. He emphasized that the initiative does not introduce new school fees but repackages existing prospectus items in a safer, more organized, and cost-effective manner.
