Takoradi: The remains of Professor Kofi Blay, father of Ms. Judith Adjoba Blay, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Gas Company, will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Esiama, in the Ellembelle District. The internment will follow a laying in state of the body at the Star of the Sea Catholic Cathedral in Takoradi for a requiem mass.
According to Ghana News Agency, the late Professor Kofi Blay passed away at the age of 86 on March 9, 2026, after a short illness. Born at Esiama in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region on March 16, 1940, he attended St. John's Secondary School in Sekondi and earned his first degree in Sociology from the University of Ghana, Legon. Professor Blay later pursued his doctorate degree in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin and dedicated over four decades to education as a lecturer in the United States from 1970 to 2014.
The late Professor Blay was a member of both the St. Peter Claver Catholic Church at Esiama and the Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Takoradi, where he served as a Youth Patron. He is survived by his wife, Rosemond, and two daughters, Ms. Adjoba Blay, CEO of Ghana Gas, and Dr. Yaba Blay, a lecturer of African Studies. He also leaves behind two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters, and numerous loved ones who affectionately referred to him as Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, and friend.
