Kumasi: The founder and leader of Power Chapel Worldwide, Rev Victor Kusi Boateng, has declared his readiness to go to jail over his association with former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to Ghana Web, Rev Kusi Boateng made this declaration while speaking to his congregation in a viral video clip. He asserted that nothing could stop his friendship with Dr Bawumia and his wife, former Second Lady Samira Bawumia, who was present at the event. The reverend emphasized that incarceration would not deter him from maintaining his friendships, stating that going to prison for his friends would not mark the end of his life. He also mentioned that it would not be his first encounter with imprisonment.
Rev Kusi Boateng addressed his congregation, saying, "I want to say on my own pulpit that I don't care whoever thinks about it; Dr Bawumia is my friend and will continue to be my friend. I will not hide it. I'm not a hypocrite. And if for this reason anybody wants to imprison me, go ahead."
He further expressed, "Prison is not for animals. It's for human beings. I've been there; I didn't die, I came back. And so it is not a crime to be a friend. And I want to say that Dr Bawumia and Hajia Samira Bawumia are my friends, my sisters, my brothers, and my bosom friends, with no apology."
The reasons behind these remarks remain unclear. However, Rev Kusi Boateng, who served as the Executive Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral of Ghana project, is currently under investigation for corruption allegations associated with the project.
