Kumasi: Kumawood actor Abraham Kofi Davies, popularly known as Salinko, has publicly commended President John Dramani Mahama for his ongoing support of the creative arts industry in Ghana. Salinko, in a recent viral video, expressed his admiration for the president's consistent assistance to Ghanaian celebrities facing crises. He described President Mahama as a person with a good heart, always ready to provide necessary help to those in need within the entertainment sector.
According to Ghana Web, Salinko mentioned that although he has never met President Mahama personally, his actions have left a significant impression. Salinko emphasized his appreciation by stating that he would show deep respect upon meeting the president. He highlighted that President Mahama's generosity has been evident whenever celebrities encounter difficulties, reinforcing the president's reputation as a supportive figure in the arts community.
Other notable figures in the Ghanaian creative industry, such as Mr Beautiful, Bullgod, and veteran musician Obuoba JA Adofo, have also acknowledged the support they have received from President Mahama. Some have even disclosed receiving stipends from him, acknowledging his commitment to the welfare of artists.
President Mahama has further pledged to extend his support by proposing the creation of a fund dedicated to ageing creatives, should he secure a government position after the December 2024 election. During a stakeholder meeting in Accra, he reiterated his concern for the welfare of creatives and outlined his vision to implement more effective measures to ensure ongoing support for ageing practitioners in the industry.
