Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has humorously suggested that owning a farm could play a role in his upcoming government reshuffle. Speaking at the inaugural Ghana Tree Crops Investment Summit and Exhibition, he remarked, "When I am going to do a reshuffle, the mitigating factor will be that you must have a farm. So, public servants, ministers, priests, clergymen, traditional rulers, everybody, try and do some agriculture."
According to Ghana Web, this lighthearted comment follows previous remarks made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey. On February 15, 2025, Kwetey hinted that President Mahama would be conducting a reshuffle of his ministers one year into his second term. He emphasized that while the government has accomplished much in the past year, it is looking to further enhance its performance through this anticipated reshuffle.
Though the exact timing of the reshuffle remains uncertain, Kwetey expressed confidence in its occurrence. He also addressed calls from some NDC members for a third term for Mahama, dismissing them as "bootlicking of the highest order," while reinforcing the president's commitment to improving government efficiency through the reshuffle.
