Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians, particularly Muslims, to remember victims of global conflicts in their prayers during Eid al-Fitr. He said the solemn occasion offered an opportunity to reflect on the suffering of innocent people affected by crises, especially in the Middle East.
According to Ghana News Agency, addressing worshippers at the Black Star Square in Accra, President Mahama noted that women, children, and families continued to bear the brunt of violence. He emphasized the pain and suffering in other parts of the world, with innocent lives being lost, families displaced, and communities shattered. On this occasion of Eid al-Fitr, he invited everyone to offer prayers for peace in the Middle East.
The President urged worshippers to pray for comfort for bereaved families, healing for the injured, and relief for those in distress. He called for wisdom for global leaders to choose dialogue over confrontation, highlighting that saving one life was akin to saving humanity. He stressed the need for the international community to uphold shared values of dignity and peace.
President Mahama reaffirmed Ghana's commitment to peace, justice, and respect for international law, pledging continued support for the peaceful resolution of conflicts. He commended the Muslim community for its contribution to national unity and development, describing Ghana's tradition of religious tolerance as a value to be preserved. The President asked citizens to reject division and promote understanding among people of different faiths.
