Police Arrest Two Alleged Land Guards Accused of Terrorising Developers at Gomoa Nyanyano

Gomoa nyanyano: The Central East Regional Police Command has apprehended two individuals accused of terrorising and attacking land developers in Gomoa Nyanyano and Fetteh, located in the Central Region. This action comes after a series of complaints were filed by residents and property owners who reported incidents of intimidation and property destruction.

According to Ghana Web, the suspects, identified as Abdul Rahman Moro, also known as Umar alias Mafia, and Mohammed Salisu, popularly referred to as 'UN', were captured in separate police operations conducted on June 2 and June 5, 2026. These arrests are part of an investigation into alleged land guard activities that have been plaguing the community.

A press release from the police on Thursday, June 11, 2026, explained that the suspects were involved in terrorising land developers, assaulting victims, and vandalizing properties in the affected areas. The police statement highlighted that Abdul Rahman Moro, along with three accomplices, allegedly interrupted construction at an uncompleted storey building in Kassim City near Gomoa Nyanyano on May 18, 2026, and confiscated workers' tools.

Investigators revealed that Moro allegedly assaulted a complainant with an iron rod, inflicting a head injury, while demanding an unauthorized payment of GHS350 for continuing work on the site. "Suspect Abdul Rahman in the process assaulted the complainant with an iron rod resulting in an injury on his head while he demanded an unauthorized amount of GHS 350.00 from him for digging on the site," the police stated.

The second suspect, Mohammed Salisu alias 'UN', is also accused of organizing groups to harass landowners and impede development efforts. Preliminary investigations indicated that he personally led these groups in actions that caused harm and damage to properties, thereby preventing land development.

Both suspects have been presented before the court and are currently remanded in police custody. They are scheduled to reappear before the Ofaakor District Court on June 19 and June 22, 2026, respectively, as authorities continue to pursue other suspects who are at large.

The Central East Regional Police Command expressed its gratitude to residents for their cooperation during the investigation, emphasizing the importance of public support in facilitating the arrests. The police urged the public to report individuals involved in similar activities to the nearest police station or contact emergency numbers 191/18555 for assistance.
