Accra: The Ghana Police Service has apprehended an individual who recently went viral on social media after daring police and military officers to arrest him, claiming he would kill any officer who attempted to do so unless they were 'spiritually fortified.'
According to Ghana Web, the young man, identified as Opoku Emmanuel, claimed in a viral video that surfaced on May 6, 2026, that bullets and cutlasses could not harm him because of the spiritual powers he possessed. Following the circulation of the video, the Ghana Police Service confirmed in a statement shared on Facebook on Thursday, May 7, 2026, that the suspect had been arrested.
The arrest of Opoku Emmanuel was made possible through a joint operation involving the Inspector-General of Police's Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) and officers at Jacobu. The IGP's Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET), in collaboration with the Police at Jacobu, has arrested the suspect for inciting violence and issuing threats against police and military personnel in a viral video.
In the video, a masked man, later identified as Opoku Emmanuel, warned police officers against attempting to arrest armed robbers and threatened to kill any officer who engaged him. The police further stated that the suspect was apprehended at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region and is currently in police custody awaiting prosecution.
Suspect Opoku Emmanuel was arrested on May 7, 2026, at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region and will be put before the court.
