Odomase: Candidates preparing for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have been urged to uphold integrity during the examination, scheduled for May. Madam Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, a philanthropist, emphasized the importance of this virtue, cautioning that examination malpractices were unacceptable and encouraging students to remain studious and adequately prepared.
According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Dwumah, who is also a parliamentary aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2024 elections, addressed the media during her visit to Odomase. She presented mock examination materials to the Sunyani West Municipal Directorate of Education, underscoring her commitment to educational integrity. She advised the candidates to remain focused and put forth their best efforts in the examination.
In a related interview, Mr. Issah Baffoe, the Sunyani West Municipal Director of Education, disclosed that a total of 2,685 candidates from 89 public and private schools in the municipality are expected to sit for the BECE. He highlighted the directorate's 'Meet Your Candidate' initiative, which aims to educate candidates on BECE rules, ethical conduct, and the repercussions of examination malpractices.
Mr. Baffoe further explained that invigilators would undergo thorough training in accordance with the Ghana Education Service (GES) code of conduct to ensure the examination is conducted smoothly and credibly within the municipality. He encouraged candidates to adhere strictly to examination regulations and to conduct themselves responsibly, urging them to maintain confidence in their abilities.
Mr. Baffoe expressed optimism that with enhanced preparation measures and increasing community support from stakeholders, the municipality is poised to achieve improved performance in the 2026 BECE.
