Accra: The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Presidential Election Committee, Joseph Osei-Owusu, commonly known as Joe Wise, has articulated the necessity of a peace pact among the party's presidential aspirants. The pact is designed to ensure unity and confidence in the party's internal electoral process.
According to Ghana Web, the peace pact mandates that all contestants publicly affirm the fairness, transparency, and inclusivity of the process involved in selecting the party's flagbearer. During an event held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, Joe Wise emphasized that the primary goal of the peace pact is to guarantee that contestants recognize the credibility of the electoral process. Furthermore, it binds them to accept the election results and to support the eventual winner among the aspirants, referred to as the "team of saints."
Joe Wise highlighted that this commitment is crucial for instilling confidence among party members, enabling them to campaign and vote without concerns over division or post-election disputes. He emphasized that the peace pact is a serious agreement that should be respected by all participants, viewing it as a binding commitment to the party and their faith.
Osei-Owusu expressed optimism about the positive impact of the initiative, believing it would fortify the party as it prepares for future electoral challenges. He concluded with hopes that the New Patriotic Party will emerge more robust and well-prepared for the 2028 general elections.
