Accra: The Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission (PCSRC) has launched a new digital platform named the Integrated Courier Operations and Logistics Management System - Ghana (iCOLMS-GH) aimed at automating and enhancing the regulation of postal, courier, and delivery services in Ghana.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Acting Executive Secretary of the PCSRC, Mr. Cosmas M. Anpengnuo, stated that the platform is designed to elevate service quality, bolster security and trust in the courier and delivery sector, and promote the use of technology to ensure transparency and accountability within the industry. This initiative aligns with President John Dramani Mahama's vision of leveraging technology to support the 24 Hour Economy.
The new system mandates all postal, courier, delivery, and logistics operators, including both local and international companies as well as individual motorcycle, tricycle, and bicycle couriers, to register on the platform for licensing. The registration window is open from January 2, 2026, to March 31, 2026. Applicants must select 'Registration' and specify if they operate as a 'Company' or a 'Single Biker.' Upon successful submission, operators will receive a PCSRC Rider ID, a Digital Operation Licence Number, and a QR Code Sticker via WhatsApp. This QR code acts as a Digital Postal, Courier, Delivery, and Logistics Operation Licence Sticker, which operators must present to authorized enforcement personnel when required.
Mr. Anpengnuo highlighted that the system allows operators to log every delivery transaction through the 'Log Delivery' option, aligning with the Commission's verification requirements. Additionally, the platform features an Incident Reporting tool, enabling consumers, the public, and licensed operators to communicate with the Commission and report any operational issues.
He warned that operators who fail to register by the deadline will be considered as operating illegally. The commission plans to conduct joint enforcement exercises with the Ghana Police Service to apprehend and prosecute offenders. Mr. Anpengnuo encouraged operators to utilize the digital platform, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation to sanitize the industry, ensuring efficiency, safety, and trust.
