Accra: The practice of holding church services during weekdays has been questioned by Rev Victor Kpakpo Jnr, better known as Azigiza Jnr, who advocates for dedicating that time to professional responsibilities. During an appearance on TV3’s Showbiz 360 on March 6, 2026, he expressed his opposition to lengthy prayer sessions held on working days.
According to Ghana Web, Azigiza Jnr made these remarks amid a discussion with actress and musician Ivy Adjimah. When asked what she would change about Ghana if given the opportunity for a day, Ivy expressed a desire for a shift from excessive spirituality to a more balanced approach that includes scientific thinking and practical problem-solving. She emphasized the importance of focusing on work and scientific solutions rather than solely on spiritual practices.
Azigiza Jnr concurred, acknowledging the importance of spirituality but emphasizing that it should not interfere with professional obligations. He stated that people should prioritize their work during weekdays and not be kept in church for extended prayer sessions. He emphasized his stance by saying, “I am a pastor, but I believe on Monday you should go to work, on Tuesday you should go to work, on Wednesday go to work.”
He further criticized the practice of pastors keeping their congregations in church during the work week, stating his disapproval of such activities.
