Accra: The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has highlighted the establishment of a Media Editors' Forum as part of ongoing reforms to enhance transparency and public engagement. Addressing participants at the Speaker's Breakfast Forum in Accra on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, he said the forum brings together editors from various media houses for regular exchanges with parliamentary leadership.
According to Ghana Web, the Speaker explained that the initiative complements other transparency measures, including live broadcasts, daily live streaming across multiple platforms, and the use of sign language interpretation to ensure inclusivity for persons with hearing impairment. He noted that these reforms have contributed to international recognition of Ghana's Parliament as one of the most open in recent years.
Parliament's engagement with civil society and the media is considered crucial to strengthening accountability and public trust in the legislative arm of government, as highlighted by the Speaker.
