Sunyani: A total of 7,997 delegates from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region are gearing up for the party's presidential primary scheduled for Saturday, January 31. This primary aims to elect a flagbearer for the upcoming Election 2028.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Henry Osei Karikari, the Bono Regional Director of Elections and Research for the NPP, stated in an interview that these delegates are distributed across the 12 politically administrative constituencies within the Bono Region. He mentioned that election materials are anticipated to arrive in Sunyani from the party's headquarters in Accra by Monday, January 26. Upon arrival, the materials will be secured at the Police armoury to ensure their safety.
Mr. Karikari provided a detailed breakdown of the delegate distribution, noting that Sunyani East is expected to host 943 delegates, Tain 837, Dormaa Central 760, Wenchi 755, Jaman South 751, and Berekum East 734. Additionally, Jaman North will see 628 delegates, Dormaa East 498, Berekum West 366, Dormaa West 333, and Banda constituency 286.
He emphasized the commitment to a credible and transparent election process and encouraged all delegates to participate actively in voting for their preferred candidate. The presidential primary will see delegates choosing among candidates including Former Vice President Alhaji Dr. Bawumia, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, MP for Abetifi and former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, MP for Bosomtwe and former Minister of Education, and Mr. Kwabena Agyepong, former General Secretary of the NPP.
