Accra: The One Million Coders Program (OMCP) has achieved a significant milestone, recording 12,623 course completions just weeks after the initiation of Phase Two. This development underscores a growing interest in digital skills training throughout Ghana.
According to Ghana Web, analytics from the program's learning platforms reveal that since Phase Two commenced on May 11, 2026, thousands of participants are engaging in coding and technology courses. These courses aim to enhance employability, boost businesses, and prepare participants for opportunities within the digital economy.
The diverse group of participants includes students, teachers, entrepreneurs, market women, young professionals, parents, public servants, and individuals with disabilities, all benefiting from the initiative's flexible learning opportunities. The program employs a blend of physical training centers, virtual instruction, and self-paced online learning to ensure digital education is accessible nationwide.
Officials at the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations note that this milestone reflects the growing demand for technology-driven skills among the Ghanaian populace. 'The goal is not simply to train people, but to build a generation of digitally empowered citizens capable of creating solutions, securing jobs, launching businesses, and contributing meaningfully to national development,' the Ministry stated.
The Ministry anticipates a steady rise in the number of course completions in the coming weeks as more participants advance through their chosen learning paths. 'With 12,623 course completions already achieved since May 11, the One Million Coders Program is steadily demonstrating that when opportunity meets determination, transformation follows,' the statement added.
