Old Students of Akporkploe Basic School Donate Items Worth GH?25,000 to Alma Mater

Aflao: Old Students Association of Akporkploe Basic School has made a significant educational donation to its alma mater, in Aflao, as part of efforts to promote academic excellence and support modern teaching and learning. The donation which took place at the school's premises in the Ketu South Municipality included items worth GH?25,000. According to Ghana News Agency, the items comprised assorted books and electronic learning equipment aimed at enhancing both traditional classroom instruction and digital learning at the school. Mr. Foga Nukunu, a member of the association's leadership, explained that the donation was to fulfill a pledge made a year ago during the school's 50th anniversary celebration. Mr. Nukunu stated that the association is committed to supporting the school as part of sustained efforts to improve academic performance. "This donation is in fulfillment of a promise we made during the school's 50th anniversary. Our main focus is academic excellence, and we believe these materials will po sitively impact teaching and learning," he noted. The donation also aimed to instill a sense of responsibility and the importance of giving back to their communities among the current pupils. Other items donated included new curriculum textbooks for all subject areas, storybooks, dictionaries, maps and atlases, early childhood learning materials, learning charts, and significant among them was a set of satellite television equipment such as a flat-screen Smart TV and decoder to support e-learning activities. Mr. Helu Samuel Sebastian, headmaster of the school, expressed profound gratitude to the old students for their continued support and commitment to the development of the school. "We are deeply grateful to our old students for this support. These items will go a long way to enhance effective teaching and learning, especially with the introduction of e-learning," he said. He also mentioned that the presence of the old students inspired the pupils to strive for academic excellence despite obstacles. Apar t from the donation exercise, the alumni had the opportunity to interact with the student body regarding their challenges and how to remain focused on their academic work. Mr. Fovi Nukunu, another member of the delegation, advised the students to utilize the items effectively to realize their potential.
