Accra: Veteran rapper Okyeame Kwame has declared that winning the Artiste of the Year at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards is well within his reach, insisting he has both the credentials and strategy to achieve it. Speaking on Hitz FM on April 13, 2026, the 'Rap Doctor' expressed confidence in what it takes to clinch the industry's most coveted individual honour.
According to Ghana Web, Okyeame Kwame emphasized that it's not difficult to win Artiste of the Year. He stated that if he accomplishes all that he plans within a year and garners three big hits, the title would be his. He believes his academic background, which includes an M.Phil in Public Relations and a Master's degree in Marketing Strategy, gives him a distinct edge. As a co-opted member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), he feels well-equipped to position himself for such recognition.
The rapper was, however, candid about the one variable outside his control-the music itself. He acknowledged that the ultimate decision rests with the audience and whether they embrace his songs. Okyeame Kwame, who previously won Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards in 2009, has remained a consistent and decorated figure in the country's music industry over a career spanning three decades.
