Wassa east: An okada rider has been killed in a ghastly accident on the Akyempim-Atieku road at Wassa East in the Western Region on the evening of June 10, 2026.
According to Ghana Web, Accra-based United Television UTV reporter Listowel Aboagye Dacosta, the incident occurred around 5:20 pm when the rider, heading from Akyempim towards Atieku, crashed head-on with a Toyota pickup which was coming from the opposite direction.
"Around 5:20 pm yesterday, an okada rider travelling from Akyempim towards Atieku collided head-on with a Toyota pickup with registration number GN-772-24, which was coming from Atieku. The crash occurred in the middle of the road and resulted in the death of the rider," he narrated.
He added that the pickup was carrying three occupants; a school child, the driver, and another male passenger.
Dacosta further disclosed that with the help of bystanders, they received treatment for minor injuries and have since been discharged.
