Obuasi: A group of students from the Obuasi Senior High Technical School reportedly attacked their headmaster following allegations of his involvement in a ritual activity.
According to Ghana Web, a source at the school claimed that the incident unfolded after a student reported seeing the headmaster burying something at the school's dumpsite early on Monday morning, around 3:00 am. The students later visited the site and claimed to have discovered what they believed to be a newborn baby in a covered hole.
Following these allegations, when the headmaster and some teachers approached the scene, they were confronted by aggrieved students who proceeded to attack the headmaster. A video of the incident, which has gone viral, depicts a chaotic scene where students assault the headmaster at what appears to be his residence, with some hurling insults and curses at him.
The footage shows the headmaster pleading with the students as they continued the assault, resulting in visible bruises on his face and blood stains on the jalabia he was wearing. Despite the turmoil, the students did not explicitly state the headmaster's alleged crime but appeared resolute in their actions, with some asserting that he could not retaliate against them.
The Ghana Police Service has now taken over the situation at the school and has begun investigations into the incident. The authorities at Obuasi SHTS have yet to confirm the identity of the alleged newborn or release an official statement regarding the event.
