Nzema: The Nzema Maanle Traditional Council has conducted a comprehensive stakeholder meeting aimed at tackling critical issues impacting the development of the Nzema region. The assembly included traditional rulers, companies, security agencies, District Assemblies, Assembly Members, media representatives, and various interest groups, all of whom presented their reports to the Council.
According to Ghana News Agency, the primary focus of the discussions was the status of the Nzema Maanle Complex facility and its impending handover to the Council. Other key topics included developmental initiatives in the Nzema region and the creation of employment opportunities for local youth. The meeting also addressed the need to improve educational standards and counter the decline in teaching and using the Nzema language in schools.
Further discussions covered the increase of ghettos and drug-related activities in Nzema communities, as well as strategies to combat these issues. The planning and coordination of the proposed 'Nkabomu Festival' (Avuyia), intended as the grand finale of the Kundum festival celebrations, was also on the agenda.
Awulae Attibrukusu III, Acting President of the Nzema Maanle Council and Paramount Chief of the Lower Axim Traditional Area, emphasized the importance of unity among traditional rulers, politicians, religious leaders, and interest groups to achieve accelerated development. He noted that disunity has hindered the region's progress, particularly in accessing opportunities in the oil and gas sector and mining companies.
Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III, Paramount Chief of the Western Nzema Traditional Area, echoed these sentiments, urging unity among all stakeholders to facilitate rapid development. He committed to leveraging his expertise to support the Council's objectives.
