Nsawam: The Municipal Chief Executive for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Selorm Fumey, has initiated the construction of the municipality's 24-Hour Economy Market. This project is seen as a crucial step toward implementing the government's flagship policy of a 24-hour economy.
According to Ghana Web, during the sod-cutting ceremony on July 29, 2026, Fumey emphasized that the market is intended to be a comprehensive business hub to support continuous commercial activity and drive economic growth in the area. He highlighted that the facility will extend beyond a typical marketplace by incorporating essential amenities such as a police station, banking center, and clinic to ensure seamless business operations.
Fumey explained that the market will be central to the 24-hour economy, enabling businesses to operate safely and efficiently through a three-shift system. This approach is expected to enhance productivity and trade within the municipality. He further noted that the government's policy aims to boost productivity across sectors by creating environments conducive to round-the-clock business activities.
The MCE expressed optimism that the project will generate employment, enhance trading conditions, and stimulate local economic development. He envisions Nsawam-Adoagyiri becoming a prominent commercial hub in the Eastern Region as a result of this initiative.
The Okuapeman Adontehene, Otoobour Djan Kwasi II, also attended the ceremony and expressed support for the project. He acknowledged the development as timely and beneficial, particularly for the market women in the municipality. The Adontehene praised the government for the initiative and hoped it would lead to better livelihoods and sustainable economic growth.
Construction of the 24-Hour Economy Market is set to commence immediately, with municipal authorities committed to ensuring the facility meets standards and supports businesses operating at all hours.
