Accra: Former Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, has issued a cautionary note to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) about underestimating the opposition NPP. According to Ghana Web, Boahen expressed concern over the NPP's strategic plans and advised the government to remain vigilant and proactive in its governance.
During an interview on a YouTube channel, Boahen emphasized the significance of the NPP's approach, urging the government to carefully consider the political landscape. He highlighted parallels with historical events, referencing Kwame Nkrumah's overthrow, and suggested that the NDC should not dismiss the NPP's potential impact.
Boahen further addressed President John Dramani Mahama, advising him to broaden his perspective beyond his immediate circle. He encouraged the President to heed constructive criticism from outside voices to ensure a meaningful legacy. Boahen stressed the importance of awareness and adaptability in governance, drawing lessons from past political experiences in the country.
In his concluding remarks, Boahen reiterated the necessity for President Mahama to remain alert to internal and external developments, cautioning against complacency and reliance solely on close advisors. He expressed that a more inclusive approach could prevent current issues from escalating, contrasting the present situation with what might have occurred under former President Prof. Mills' administration.
