NPP Schedules Primaries in Orphan Constituencies for December 2

ACCRA: The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that it will hold its Extraordinary Constituency Delegates Conference on Saturday, December 2, 2023, to elect Parliamentary Candidates in orphan constituencies, where the Party currently has no parliamentary representation. The announcement was made following a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Friday, November 10, 2023.

According to Ghana News Agency, General Secretary of the NPP, vetting of aspiring parliamentary candidates in these constituencies is scheduled to take place in regional capitals from November 14 to 16, 2023. The Regional Executive Committees are directed to inform the constituencies and aspiring candidates about the dates, time, and venues for vetting. The Conference will exclude several constituencies including Ketu North, Akatsi North, Yilo Krobo, Jomoro, Fomena, and Bawku Central.

The Party has appointed national representatives on the Vetting Committees for various regions, listing the chairpersons and members for each region. Additionally, the National Executive Committee has rescheduled the date for primaries in constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament to January 20, 2024, with nomination opening on December 20, 2023, and closing on December 22, 2023. Detailed guidelines for the conduct of these primaries will be issued soon.
