Accra: Mr Joseph Osei-Owusu, Chairman of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Presidential Election Committee, has commended the Ghana Police Service for ensuring a peaceful presidential primary on January 31. Mr Osei-Owusu expressed his appreciation during a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Police Management Board (POMAB) on Tuesday.
According to Ghana News Agency, the former Member of Parliament for Bekwai praised the rank and file of the Service for their role in ensuring a peaceful election. He lauded the IGP and POMAB for the comprehensive security arrangements and the professionalism displayed by officers across the country before, during, and after the exercise.
Mr Osei-Owusu highlighted the visible police presence, effective coordination, and neutral posture exhibited by personnel, which significantly contributed to maintaining calm and public confidence in the electoral process.
The IGP, Mr Yohuno, reiterated the Police's commitment to their constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property. He emphasized the duty of the Service to support all democratic processes through personnel's dedication, discipline, and professional policing.
