Accra: Mr Peter Abum Sarkodie, a former Member of Parliament for Asante-Mampong, has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to strengthen its structures and focus on grassroots efforts to regain power. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Sarkodie emphasized that connecting with people at the grassroots is a crucial factor for the NPP to return to power.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Sarkodie noted that winning back grassroots support would fortify the party and positively impact its prospects. He highlighted the importance of reinforcing the party's foundation by engaging with remote communities, fostering relationships with residents, and offering support.
He advised that following successful constituency elections, the party should not delay campaigning until national elections are near. Instead, it should continuously promote its achievements to the public, particularly in smaller communities, to effectively communicate the NPP's policies and initiatives.
Mr Sarkodie, who previously served as Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, emphasized the responsibility of every party executive, supporter, and sympathizer to disseminate the NPP's message. He expressed optimism about the party's potential to reclaim power in 2028, provided it remains united and diligently works towards a shared goal.
He encouraged party members to set aside their differences and collaborate as a team, supporting each other to achieve their collective aim. Furthermore, Mr Sarkodie urged NPP leadership to focus on building trust and confidence among ordinary party members and sympathizers through consistent community engagement.
Mr Sarkodie concluded by stressing the necessity for a stronger political force within the NPP, achievable through committed leadership, unity, love, and hard work across the country. He reiterated the need to resolve internal differences to ensure unity ahead of the 2028 election.
