Accra: Mr. Justin Frimpong Kodua, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on party sympathisers to formalise their membership during the party's upcoming national registration exercise. Scheduled to run from March 1 to March 31, the exercise will allow supporters to register at their respective polling stations and pay the required dues to become paid-up members in good standing.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Kodua emphasized the importance of building a comprehensive, digitised database to enhance national planning and strategy. He stated, "As a party that relies on data to project and plan our future, it is essential that our members view this registration as a vital step in our collective progress."
He outlined several key benefits for participants, noting that only registered, paid-up members will be eligible to contest executive positions at various levels, ensuring their recognition within the party hierarchy. Special arrangements are also in place for supporters living abroad, enabling them to register through international chapters and branches, making the process inclusive for all sympathisers.
Addressing concerns about internal bias, Mr. Kodua dismissed rumours suggesting protection of certain incumbents. He assured that the party operates on merit, denying that any member would be barred from contesting internal elections, and affirming that all registered members who have settled their dues have the right to seek office.
"As General Secretary, I will personally ensure that the guidelines governing our registration and restructuring efforts are strictly respected and adhered to," he added.
