Nkrankwanta: Mr Ernest Amankwah, the Dormaa West Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region, has declared that the party will not tolerate any form of electoral fraud during the Presidential Primary scheduled for Saturday, January 31. He stressed that electoral fraud and vote buying compromise the party's integrity and credibility, expressing a firm stance against any manipulation or undue influence in the primary.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Amankwah emphasized that the NPP is firmly opposed to vote buying and will not permit any presidential hopeful or their supporters to sway delegates with money or gifts on election day. He stated, "We aren't giving in or leaving any chance for any of the presidential hopefuls to take advantage and exert monetary influences in the elections."
Delegates of the largest opposition NPP are set to vote on Saturday, January 31, to select a flagbearer for Election 2028. The candidates include former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Abetifi MP and former Food and Agriculture Minister Dr Bryan Acheampong, and Bosomtwe MP and former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum. Also in the race are former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong and Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former MP for Assin Central.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkrankwanta, the constituency capital, Mr Amankwah revealed that 323 delegates are expected to cast their ballots. The party is arranging transportation and meals for delegates from eight of the ten electoral areas in the constituency to ensure smooth participation in the voting process.
Mr Amankwah urged delegates to make informed decisions by critically analyzing and assessing the competencies and capabilities of the presidential hopefuls. He reaffirmed the party's commitment to conducting peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections, cautioning party members against engaging in negative acts that could undermine the integrity and credibility of the electoral process.
