Accra: The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed strong disapproval of Kevin Ekow Taylor's verbal assaults on former President John Agyekum Kufuor and has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to take immediate action.
According to Ghana Web, the NPP released a press statement on May 8, 2026, condemning the attacks as a desecration of a national icon. The party emphasized the importance of protecting Kufuor's legacy, highlighting his contributions to rescuing Ghana from economic difficulties, enhancing democratic processes, and gaining international respect.
The NPP accused the NDC of remaining silent on the issue, suggesting complicity due to Taylor's alleged connections with the party. The statement demanded that President Mahama and the NDC dissociate themselves from the attacks and called for a public apology from Taylor to Kufuor.
The release, signed by Richard Ahiagbah, the NPP's Director of Communications, questioned the NDC's stance on cultural values versus Taylor's actions. The NPP urged the NDC to choose between aligning with shared cultural values or supporting Taylor's behavior.
