Kumasi: The Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) have extended their congratulations to Professor Edward Brenya on his recent appointment as the Head of the Political Science Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
According to Ghana News Agency, the groups have acknowledged this appointment as a testament to Professor Brenya's significant contributions to academia and his service to both Asanteman and Ghana. This recognition follows his promotion to Professor of Political Science and Public Administration.
In a press release from Kumasi, signed by Mr. Asumah Moro, the Ashanti Regional TEIN Coordinator, it was noted that Professor Brenya has been a prominent figure within the NDC student front in the Ashanti Region. His academic progress is seen as a source of inspiration for young individuals, particularly those involved with TEIN.
Mr. Moro highlighted that Professor Brenya has been a consistent supporter of the NDC, especially during opposition periods, by serving as Patron of TEIN at KNUST and as Research Director for the Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the NDC. His achievements are seen as a testament to the importance of resilience and commitment in serving the party openly, even amidst challenges.
The groups have urged comrades on tertiary campuses to follow Professor Brenya's example of dedication and loyalty. Currently, Professor Brenya also serves as Chairman of the Governing Council of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU).
In addition, Mr. Moro expressed gratitude to His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for appointing Professor Brenya to the Education Committee of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation. The group has also called on the government to acknowledge Professor Brenya's accomplishments and support his future advancement, particularly within the academic sector.
