Sekondi-Takoradi:The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has urged students and young people to exercise caution when using the internet to avoid online and cybersecurity threats.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Harriet Addeywood, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Director of the NCCE, emphasized that the content shared by young people on digital platforms could have lasting effects on their future prospects and reputations. She conveyed this message during an educational outreach program at the Essipong Technical Institute, where students were educated on their responsibilities and online safety.
Mrs. Addeywood advised students to be careful with their use of social media and other digital platforms. She stressed the importance of ensuring that shared content is accurate, warning that seemingly harmless posts could have significant consequences later in life. She illustrated this by highlighting how inappropriate content could re-emerge and negatively impact career opportunities or public image.
Furthermore, Mrs. Addeywood encouraged students to respect their peers' rights and maintain a respectful learning environment. She also urged students to protect school property and to be advocates for environmental preservation by opposing harmful activities like illegal mining and sand winning, which threaten society.
