Wenchi: Mr Adams Mohammed, the Bono Regional Director of the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) has presented industrial machines to 36 young women in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region to undergo employable skills training.
According to Ghana News Agency, the equipment provided included sewing and netting machines, hair dryers, accessories, and other basic training tools. These resources were distributed among 30 trainees and six master trainers, marking the first batch of the program in the Municipality. During the ceremony held in Wenchi, Mr Mohammed emphasized the importance of the apprentices taking their training seriously to maximize the benefits of the program.
Madam Gloria Opoku, the Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive, encouraged the beneficiaries to maintain the machines properly. She urged them to seize the opportunity provided by the government to acquire skills that would lead to decent employment. Her message highlighted the broader goal of the program, which is to empower young women in the region with practical skills that can lead to sustainable livelihoods.
Mr Desmond Sabala, the Bono Regional Director of the National Youth Authority (NYA), reiterated the government's commitment to creating job opportunities for the youth through initiatives like the NAP. He stressed that employable skills training is essential for job creation and poverty reduction, advising unemployed youth to engage in apprenticeship programs to improve their prospects.
