Accra:Nana Akua Addo's husband, Harold Duodu Norman, has been remanded into custody for two weeks as the domestic violence case against him continues to unfold. This development took place during a court hearing as the case, which involves allegations of abuse against the businessman, attracted public interest.
According to Ghana Web, the court has also granted Nana Akua Addo custody of their two daughters to ensure their welfare during the ongoing proceedings. The allegations, which include physical, emotional, and economic abuse, were initially reported by Nana Akua Addo to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
The investigation is still underway, and the claims have not yet been proven in court. The Ghana Police Service released a statement detailing the complaint and the investigative actions taken so far. Nana Akua Addo filed a petition with the Director-General of the CID in August, leading to Harold Norman's arrest at the end of the same month.
After being arrested, Norman was granted police enquiry bail while the investigation continued. However, he missed a scheduled court appearance due to hospitalization, which was later verified by police investigators. The CID continues to monitor the situation to ensure his presence in court upon his release from medical care.
The police are coordinating with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to provide social welfare support to Nana Akua Addo and her daughters. The police have emphasized their commitment to handling domestic violence cases professionally and in accordance with standard procedures.
