Mzbel Reports Prophet Fire Ogya to Police Over Alleged Defamation

Accra: Popular Ghanaian songstress Mzbel has shared details of her first encounter with the founder of Zion Prayer Ministries International, Prophet Fire Ogya (Jedidia Henry Kore), following a formal complaint made to the police against him. The 16-years hitmaker, in an interview with ZionFelix, shared how Prophet Fire Ogya was sweating and shivering when she met him at the police station while he was in custody.

According to Ghana Web, Mzbel was asked if the prophet was arrested or merely invited for questioning, to which she replied, “He was in police custody, I don’t know by which means he found himself there, but he was in custody.” She narrated the events leading to her reporting him to the police, explaining how she discovered a video in which the prophet discredited her and issued threats.

‘I woke up one morning to hear him saying all sorts of things about me, discrediting my name and even threatening me that if I have the heart, I should come out and face him. I don’t even know him or have any issue with him. And I knew that once he starts, he will not stop until he gets what he wants,’ she said.

Describing their encounter at the police station, Mzbel expressed surprise at his demeanor. ‘I was even disappointed when I saw him. I was expecting some kind of aura or confidence, but he looked pathetic. He was sweating and shivering.’ She further narrated that the police chief asked the prophet if he knew her, to which he responded negatively.

‘When he was told that I was Mzbel, he looked at me and said, ‘Oh, I’ve never seen you before. I have only seen your videos on social media,” she recounted. When questioned about speaking negatively about her despite not knowing her, Mzbel said the prophet suggested making peace after explaining his reasons.

She disclosed that the police intended to detain him for 48 hours, as he allegedly refused to write a statement despite guidance. Mzbel later learned he had been granted bail and noted that the case would proceed to court once a date and courtroom were assigned.

Mzbel emphasized the necessity of seeking legal redress to protect her reputation. ‘All that he said about me was wrong, so I had to seek legal help. He is a pastor, and what he says would be believed by people. That could go against me, so he has to retract his statement,’ she explained. She expressed willingness to resolve the matter if the prophet publicly apologized, stating, ‘If he retracts and apologises, I can drop the case.’

The singer dismissed suggestions that her celebrity status should lead her to ignore the situation, asserting her right to report false allegations. ‘It is not about me being a celebrity and having to ignore it. It is my right to report false allegations made against me. I didn’t know that at first, but now I do,’ she stated.

Mzbel concluded by warning that she would not hesitate to take legal action against anyone making false claims aimed at damaging her image.
