Music is integral in national development, promotes culture – Rocky Dawuni

Ghanaian Reggae musician and two times Grammy nominee, Rocky Dawuni has indicated that music plays an integral role in national development.

He said music was a resource that had so much value that could be a foundation for development.

Rocky told GNA Entertainment that his nomination was a testament to the country’s impactful music over the years.

He said, “Our music is spreading, expanding and making inroads all around the world”.

The Grammy nominee said a movement could not be created without considering the content of the music, because the music was reflective of where the country intended to go.

“Music that has great content of culture needs to be pushed to the forefront to be promoted,” he added.

The legendary musician commended the leadership of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) for their support, saying musicians with support from like-minded organisations and individuals “we can be able to transform the music scene that can attract investors and tourists into Ghana”.

The USA-based Ghanaian Reggae Singer thanked Ghanaians, including the media for their continuous support to Ghanaian music, referring to the support they showed to him after gaining his second Grammy nomination.

Rocky Dawuni has been nominated for the Grammy award for the second time after bagging his first nomination with his 2015-released Branches of the Same Tree album followed by his Voice of BunBon, Vol.1 album, which has also fetched him a nomination at the 64th Grammy Awards.
