Tarkwa nsuaem: The Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has issued a directive restricting the movement of loaded tipper trucks within the municipality following a fatal road crash that claimed the lives of three adults and an infant.
According to Ghana News Agency, the directive was announced after an emergency meeting between MUSEC and the leadership of the Tipper Truck Operators Association. A press release signed by Mr. Ebenezer Cobbinah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and Chairman of MUSEC, indicated that the accident involved a tipper truck which reportedly lost control and collided head-on with a passenger vehicle caught in traffic, resulting in the instant death of four persons.
The release stated, "In view of the gravity of the incident and the need to safeguard lives and property, MUSEC has directed that, with immediate effect, no tipper truck carrying quarry materials, stones, sand, or any other load shall use the AngloGold Junction route to or from quarry and mining sites within the municipality." It highlighted that all loaded tipper trucks must now use the main Teberebie Junction route, and that the operators association, truck owners, and truck drivers are expected to strictly comply with the directive at all times.
The Council emphasized that this measure is part of broader efforts by the Assembly and security agencies to improve road safety and prevent future occurrences of such incidents. The release also mentioned that other measures are currently being considered and would be communicated in due course.
Enforcement of this directive will be undertaken by the Municipal Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service Tarkwa Command. The release stated that any driver or operator found violating the directive would face appropriate legal sanctions.
The Assembly urged all tipper truck operators, drivers, and stakeholders to cooperate fully to ensure public safety.
