Accra: MTN Ghana has donated GHS30,000 in cash, GHS2,000 worth of airtime, and assorted drink hampers to support the 89th Ada Asafotufiami Festival. The donation was presented by Mr. Francis Gyang, the Sales Manager for MTN's Southeast Business District, underscoring the telecommunications company's commitment to maintaining Ghana's cultural heritage and aiding traditional institutions.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Gyang characterized the Asafotufiami Festival as more than a cultural celebration, highlighting its role in representing the history, resilience, and unity of the Ada people. He pointed out that the festival also serves as a platform for tourism and community development. The 89th edition holds particular significance as it sets the stage for the 90th anniversary celebration next year. Mr. Gyang noted that MTN Ghana is also celebrating a milestone, marking 30 years of operations in Ghana.
"For 19 years running, MTN has stood beside the Ada Traditional Area during this festival, and that consistency is not by accident. It reflects who we are as a brand; a company that measures its success not only in networks and numbers, but also in the lives we touch and the communities we help build," he said.
Mr. Gyang elaborated on the company's broader commitment to supporting traditional councils nationwide, emphasizing that investing in cultural institutions is an investment in community futures. He announced plans to establish customer experience centers at strategic locations during the festival to offer support services, engage customers, and address concerns throughout the celebrations.
He expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of Ada for their trust and loyalty over the past three decades, describing them as an integral part of MTN's success story, and extended wishes for peace, unity, good health, and prosperity as they celebrate the festival.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ada Traditional Council, Asafoatsengua Buertey Okumko Obuampong IV, the Senior Warlord of the Adibiawe Clan and Vice Chairman of the 89th Asafotufiami Planning Committee, thanked MTN Ghana for its continuous support in organizing the annual festival successfully.
Nene Agudey Obitchere III, the Manklalo of Ada and Chairman of the Planning Committee, revealed that the 2027 edition of the Asafotufiami Festival will mark the 90th celebration and coincide with the Golden Jubilee, marking 50 years of the reign of Nene Kabu Abram Akuaku III, the Paramount Chief of the Ada Traditional Area. He urged MTN Ghana to partner with the Ada State in commemorating the three significant milestones: MTN @30, Nene Ada @50, and Asafotufiami @90, describing the occasion as an opportunity to celebrate enduring partnerships, leadership, and cultural heritage.
