Baku:Ghanaian Afrobeats musician Mr Drew has clarified that his recent outburst during an X Space was directed at social media trolls rather than his fans. The singer expressed frustration over how some participants addressed him during the discussion but emphasized that his reaction was not aimed at his loyal supporters.
According to Ghana Web, Mr Drew felt his comments had been misrepresented, suggesting he was disrespecting his fans when he was, in fact, responding to trolls who insulted him. He reiterated his appreciation for his fans and his intolerance for disrespect.
The incident occurred on October 12, 2026, when Mr Drew clashed with some participants on an X Space after taking offence at their manner of address. He stressed the importance of considering differences in age and financial standing when interacting with him. Initially aimed at engaging with fans, the discussion escalated as some participants exchanged heated words with him.
Tensions rose when a participant used "chale," a Ghanaian term for a friend, to address Mr Drew. He objected, stating that many wrongly assumed they could speak to him informally due to his online presence. The participant accused Mr Drew of arrogance, questioning his status in the music industry. The disagreement led to insults and threats of blocking the account, fueling the controversy further.
