Accra: Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has withdrawn allegations of scandal in the security recruitment process and tendered an apology in Parliament.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Minister of the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, expressed that being wrongly accused and labelled with criminality was painful. He stated, "I'm heavily hurt and worried but who am I? . I accept it whole heartedly." The Minister urged the Minority Leader to address any concerns about the recruitment process through the proper channels.
Following this development, First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor directed that the Minority Leader's comments be removed from the parliamentary hansard. Consequently, the referral of the Minority Leader to the Privileges and Immunities Committee of Parliament was also withdrawn.
Earlier, on March 3, 2026, the Interior Minister lodged a complaint of contempt of Parliament against Mr Afenyo-Markin, referring to Standing Orders 31(e) for providing misleading and false information during the State of the Nation Address on February 27, 2026.
The security recruitment process is managed through the Centralised Services E-Recruitment Portal (C-SERP), which handles applications for the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and Ghana Immigration Service.
