Accra: The Melcom Group of Companies has honored the legacy of its late Founder and Chairman, Mr. Bhagwan Ramchand Khubchandani, by donating GH?40,000 worth of food and educational items to four schools. This gesture commemorates the fifth anniversary of Mr. Khubchandani's passing and underscores the company's commitment to education and health, key pillars emphasized by the late founder.

According to Ghana News Agency, the event was held at the Melcom Head Office in the North Industrial Area, serving as a tribute to Mr. Khubchandani's philanthropic vision. The beneficiary institutions, namely Amanorkrom Presby JHS Library, Dzorwulu Special School, Akropong School for the Blind, and Accra Wesley Girls School, received a variety of items aimed at supporting both student welfare and academic pursuits.

The donation included essential food items such as bags of rice, corned beef, and light meat tuna, as well as packs of bottled water. Additionally, the Group provided educational supplies, including school bags, exercise books, and an assortment of reading materials, to bolster the students' academic resources.

Mr. Ramesh Sadhwani, Joint Managing Director of Melcom Group of Companies, emphasized that this initiative is an extension of the Melcom Care Foundation's mission. Since 2013, the Foundation has invested over GH?25 million in community projects across Ghana, focusing on sectors that Mr. Khubchandani believed were critical to societal development.

Mr. Sadhwani highlighted the Group's ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts, which have previously included the distribution of 70 medical refrigerators to more than 50 hospitals and the collection of approximately 11,500 units of blood for the National Blood Bank through annual donation drives. The Group also maintains its commitment to educational advancement through scholarship schemes for employees' children and a partnership with the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UNIMAC), which recognizes the late founder through the Best Graduating Journalism Student Award.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of key management figures, including Madam Sonya Sadhwani, Group Executive Director, who assisted in the presentation of the donations. Ms. Eunice Agyeiwaa Marfo, the Girl Child Coordinator of Amanorkrom Presby JHS, expressed gratitude to the Melcom Group, acknowledging that the donated food and educational materials would significantly ease some of the challenges faced by the students.
