Match Report: Aduana Stars grind to beat King Faisal 3-2 in Kumasi

King Faisal have been dragged into an early relegation battle after suffering a second successive defeat in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.

The Kumasi-based club today hosted Aduana Stars on matchday 2 of the league campaign at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

In a game where the visiting team put up a good performance, the team had the lead after 16 minutes when poster boy Bright Adjei scored with a fantastic striker.

Although King Faisal will score through Haruna Mohammed ten minutes later to restore parity, a goal from Adom Frimpong in the 33rd minute handed Aduana Stars a 2-1 lead before the halftime break.

After recess, a fierce contest ensued between the two teams. Unfortunately for King Faisal, the quest to get back into the game to avoid a second defeat of the season did not materialise.

Solomon Aboagye grabbed a third goal for Aduana Stars in the first ten minutes of the second half before King Faisal netted a second goal in the 89th minute.

With no other goals in the game, Aduana Stars earned a 3-2 victory at the end of the game to merit the three maximum points.

While the win gives Aduana Stars six points from the first two games of the season, the result means King Faisal have lost all six points from the two opening games.
