Obuasi:A recent exposé by investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has revealed new details concerning allegations of sexual misconduct against Zakaria Abdulai, the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School. The investigation highlights a late-night intervention by the Obuasi East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), William Kofi Adjaho, also known as Biggy, and an account by the school's housemistress, Stephanie Adjoa Yeboah.
According to Ghana Web, the allegations against Abdulai surfaced shortly after his appointment in April 2025. The investigation involved a secret audio recording capturing Yeboah recounting an incident where the MCE reportedly removed a female student from the school at night following allegations against the headmaster.
Yeboah explained that she acted on instructions from the MCE to have the student wait at a designated location. The student was then taken away by the MCE and her family, despite Yeboah's initial resistance to the decision. The housemistress directly confronted Abdulai about the allegations, but he reportedly remained silent.
Manasseh Azure Awuni reached out to the MCE, who confirmed his involvement in removing the student but denied resolving the issue with her family. The MCE acknowledged the criminal nature of the allegations but explained he intervened due to his political position. Despite acknowledging the seriousness of the allegations, the matter was not reported to the police, as those involved felt they lacked sufficient evidence.
