Man Arrested for Severing Brother’s Hand in Violent Altercation

Agona abodom: A 35-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly severing his brother's left wrist during a heated altercation in Agona Abodom, located in the Central Region. The incident reportedly occurred around 11:00 pm on Wednesday, May 14, 2026.

According to Ghana Web, the suspect, identified as Johnathan Baisie and commonly known as 'Bra Baisie,' was apprehended by police shortly after the incident. The altercation between the two brothers, who have been known to struggle with mental health issues, escalated into violence, as confirmed by the Assembly Member for the Agona Abodom Electoral Area, Alex Donkor.

Donkor explained that the argument between the siblings intensified, leading Baisie to wield a cutlass, which he used to sever his brother's left hand. Following the attack, the injured brother was immediately taken to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital for medical treatment, where he is currently receiving care.

In the aftermath of the incident, Baisie remains in police custody as authorities conduct further investigations into the violent confrontation.
