Accra: President John Dramani Mahama is set to embark on a two-day working visit to the Volta Region from July 16 to 17 as part of his nationwide Resetting Ghana Tour. The tour aims to assess key government programmes and engage citizens in discussions about the country's development agenda.
According to Ghana News Agency, the President's itinerary includes inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects, commissioning newly completed public facilities, launching development initiatives, and interacting with residents and stakeholders on governance and socio-economic transformation. The visit underscores the Government's commitment to maintaining close engagement with citizens while monitoring the progress of projects designed to improve livelihoods, strengthen public institutions, and expand access to essential services.
The President will kick off the first day with a sod-cutting ceremony for the proposed 24-Hour Economy Market at Juapong, an initiative expected to bolster commercial activities, support local enterprise development, and create employment opportunities. Additionally, he will inspect the newly completed 1,500-seat multipurpose assembly hall at the Peki College of Education and review the progress of the Asikuma-Anyirawase Road, UHAS By-pass, and Anyirawase-Ho Road projects aimed at enhancing road infrastructure and connectivity in the region.
His itinerary also includes an inspection of the multipurpose laboratory project at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) on the Sokode Campus, which is intended to strengthen medical education, research, and innovation. The President will later participate in a durbar on the Government's Free Primary Health Care Programme at the Ho Municipal Hospital, highlighting efforts to expand access to quality healthcare services.
On the second day, President Mahama will assess the state of the Ho Sports Stadium as part of efforts to upgrade sports infrastructure and promote youth development. He will then host a Resetting Ghana Citizens' Engagement at Ho Technical University, bringing together various community leaders and the public to discuss government policies, receive feedback, and enhance citizen participation in national development.
The tour will also see the commissioning of the newly completed Akatsi North District Police Headquarters at Ave-Dakpa, a facility expected to improve policing capacity, security service delivery, and law enforcement in the district. The visit will conclude with an inspection of the Ho-Denu Road Project, a strategic corridor expected to enhance transportation, facilitate trade, and improve connectivity across the Volta Region.
The Government views this visit as part of a broader agenda to accelerate infrastructure development, strengthen healthcare and education sectors, improve public service delivery, promote economic growth, and deepen engagement between the government and citizens. Residents of the Volta Region are encouraged to participate in the scheduled activities and support the collective pursuit of national development.
